Case Study
Using AI (ChatGPT) to Complement Business Intelligence Teaching Curriculum
Learn how to teach business analytics using generative AI

About this case study
- This teaching case introduces students to how Large Language Models (LLMs), such as ChatGPT, can be integrated into traditional business analytics workflows.
- Business intelligence tasks—such as data cleaning, exploration, visualization, and predictive modeling—are essential components of analytics training. However, students often struggle to connect conceptual understanding with coding implementation. This project addresses that gap by leveraging generative AI as a support tool to bridge traditional programming and AI-assisted workflows.
- The project uses Python (Pandas, Matplotlib, and Scikit-learn) in a Jupyter Notebook environment, alongside ChatGPT for code generation, debugging, and optimization. Publicly available datasets from domains such as healthcare, finance, and influencer marketing are incorporated.
- Students often rely on trial and error when writing code and may lack confidence in troubleshooting. Generative AI tools like ChatGPT provide a way to augment learning by demonstrating multiple approaches to the same task. This project helps students compare their own code to AI-generated solutions, critically assess trade-offs, and reflect on ethical considerations.
